Looking for a Specific Type of Plumber in Wheeler Heights?

Fixed Today Plumbing handles emergency callouts across Wheeler Heights with immediate dispatch from nearby hubs, reaching most Northern Beaches properties within typical response windows for urgent jobs like burst pipes, gas leaks, and major blockages. We're licensed in NSW (305428C), adequately insured, and operate 24/7 with a multi-van fleet, so emergency work is sent out first and the nearest available plumber is allocated based on your location and the type of fault. This covers urgent situations where water, gas, or drainage systems have failed and need attention quickly; if a full scope assessment is required, it's completed onsite and a fixed-price quote is provided before work starts.

Active leaks and gas faults are stressful. The priority is making it safe and stopping damage. Our plumbers arrive with diagnostic tools including CCTV drain cameras, electronic leak detectors, and high-pressure jetters to assess the fault, confirm what's needed, then fix it properly using methods that address the root cause. You receive an upfront quote once scope is clarified, priced by the job, not by the hour, so there's no uncertainty once the plumber has assessed what's involved.

Wheeler Heights jobs are typically reached from our West Sydney hub via the M2 and Warringah Road corridor, with arrival timing depending on traffic conditions and current bookings. We provide ETA updates where possible once dispatch is confirmed. All attending technicians are licensed plumbers (NSW), arrive in uniform, and can identify themselves before entry. Work areas are protected with drop sheets, and the job site is cleaned up prior to leaving.

Workmanship is backed by our Lifetime Labour Warranty, which covers the quality of the repair itself. Manufacturer warranties apply to any hardware or appliances installed. If you're unsure whether the situation is urgent or can wait, a brief phone call is enough to confirm priority—we'll explain what's typically involved and arrange the right technician. Contact us now to book an emergency assessment or confirm availability for same-day service.

Emergency Plumbing Wheeler Heights

Emergency plumbing services in Wheeler Heights covers urgent faults where immediate professional attention reduces property damage or safety risk, burst pipes flooding internal areas, gas leaks with odour or hissing sounds, and sewer backups entering the property. Fixed Today Plumbing dispatches the nearest available licensed and insured plumbing technician from local hubs, with urgent jobs prioritised ahead of routine bookings and an ETA provided once the technician is allocated.

A broken pipe actively spraying water needs isolation at the meter if the internal valve can't stop the flow. If you're unsure where the shutoff is or it won't turn, we can talk you through it by phone while the plumber is on the way. Gas leaks require immediate action, turn off the gas at the meter if safe to access, ventilate the area, avoid ignition sources, and arrange an assessment so the system can be pressure-tested and made safe before use resumes.

On arrival, we assess the affected area, confirm what caused the fault, and explain the repair options. If the job is straightforward, replacing a failed valve, clearing an accessible blockage, or isolating a leaking section, we provide a fixed-price quote and complete the work once you've confirmed you're happy to proceed. For faults requiring further investigation or structural access, we explain what's needed and book a follow-up with the right equipment and parts.

Our emergency service includes Public Liability and Workers Compensation insurance, so if accidental property damage occurs during the work, you're protected. Background checks and police checks are completed for all technicians. We explain what we're doing before starting, take reasonable care around finished surfaces, and test the system after repair to confirm it's working safely. If you're dealing with an active fault right now, call immediately—urgent jobs are sent out first and we'll confirm dispatch timing based on your location and the fault type.

Fixed Price Before Work Starts

Once we've assessed the job onsite and confirmed scope, you receive a fixed-price quote. The price is by the job, not by the hour, so you can decide with full clarity before any work proceeds.

Licensed and Verified Technicians

All attending plumbers hold a current NSW licence. Background checks and police checks are completed, and technicians arrive in uniform ready to identify themselves before entry.

Immediate Dispatch for Emergencies

Urgent jobs are prioritised and sent out first. The nearest available technician is allocated from local dispatch points, with ETA updates provided once dispatch is confirmed.

Comprehensive Insurance Coverage

We carry Public Liability insurance (protection if accidental property damage occurs during work) and Workers Compensation insurance (protection related to workplace injuries on the job).

General Plumbing

General plumbing in Wheeler Heights includes routine fixture repairs, tap replacements, toilet cistern faults, minor leak rectifications, and new fixture installations across kitchens, bathrooms, and laundries. Fixed Today Plumbing handles both urgent and scheduled work, with same-day availability for most standard callouts and booking windows arranged to suit access requirements where strata or tenancy rules apply.

The initial visit involves confirming what's affected, checking the existing pipework and connections, and identifying whether the issue is isolated to one fixture or part of a broader system fault. Once the scope is confirmed, we provide a flat-rate quote that includes labour, materials, and any testing required to verify the repair. The price quoted is the price you pay, no additional charges are added once work is underway.

In practice, we see a mix of ageing tap washers in older properties, corroded shower mixers in coastal-adjacent homes, and toilet cistern faults where internal components have worn out over time. Repairs are completed using quality replacement parts, and the system is tested before we leave to confirm flow rates, temperature control, and leak-free operation. All work is backed by our Lifetime Labour Warranty on workmanship, with manufacturer warranties covering any installed hardware.

If you're coordinating access for a rental property or strata unit, we can work with agents and managers to confirm booking times and provide documentation suitable for maintenance records. Our plumbers follow site requirements including sign-in procedures where required, and respect occupied home protocols, boot covers are worn when requested, work areas are isolated where practical, and noise is kept as low as conditions allow.

Blocked Drains

A blocked drain stops wastewater from leaving the property, causing sinks, showers, or toilets to back up and creating hygiene risks if sewage enters internal areas. Fixed Today Plumbing clears blockages by locating the restriction using high-definition CCTV drain cameras, then removing it with the least disruptive method for the pipework, typically high-pressure water jetting for organic build-up and root intrusion, or mechanical clearing for solid foreign objects.

The usual sequence is CCTV inspection first to confirm what's causing the blockage and where it's located within the line, followed by clearing using the appropriate method, then a second camera pass to verify the line is fully restored and check for structural issues that could cause repeat blockages. If the inspection shows pipe damage, cracks, collapsed sections, or separated joints, we explain the options and provide a separate quote for structural repair, which often involves trenchless pipe relining to avoid excavation.

What typically happens is tree roots seeking moisture enter hairline cracks in older clay or terracotta pipes, then expand as they grow, trapping debris and eventually blocking the line completely. In kitchen waste lines, fats and oils solidify as they cool, gradually narrowing the pipe and catching food scraps until flow stops. Both scenarios are cleared effectively with hydro-jetting, which uses specialised nozzles to scour the pipe walls and pulverise obstructions at pressures sufficient to restore near-full capacity.

Drainage work in Wheeler Heights falls under Sydney Water's jurisdiction, so compliance certificates are issued where required for structural repairs or work affecting sewer mains. If you're experiencing slow drainage, gurgling sounds, or foul odours from floor waste grates, a quick assessment can confirm whether it's a localised blockage or a broader line issue, camera diagnostics provide clear evidence of what's needed, and the footage can be provided if you need documentation for insurance or strata purposes.

Hot Water Systems

Hot water systems in Wheeler Heights properties include electric storage tanks, continuous flow gas units, and heat pump installations. Fixed Today Plumbing handles new installations, full replacements for failed systems, and repairs for leaking valves, temperature faults, and insufficient output. The first visit involves confirming the system type, checking the age and condition, and testing operation to identify whether the fault is repairable or the unit has reached end-of-life.

For a failing storage tank, rust-coloured water in the morning typically indicates internal corrosion where the sacrificial anode has depleted and the tank lining is breaking down. Continuous flow units that won't ignite or shut off mid-shower often have sensor faults, gas supply issues, or scale build-up affecting the heat exchanger. We test the system, explain what's failed, and provide options, repair where parts are available and cost-effective, or replacement when the system is beyond economical repair.

Installation of a new system involves removing the old unit, confirming the existing connections are suitable, and fitting the replacement in compliance with AS/NZS 3500 standards. This includes mandatory Tempering Valves to limit outlet temperature to 50°C at the tap (preventing scalding) and Pressure Relief Valves to prevent tank over-pressurisation. Gas units require a pressure loss test after installation to confirm the system is gas-tight before commissioning, and a compliance certificate is issued where required.

We work with Rheem, Dux, Rinnai, and other major brands, and can source replacement parts for most systems still under manufacturer warranty. If your hot water has stopped working completely, arrange an assessment, we'll confirm what's needed, provide a fixed quote for replacement or repair, and explain the expected timeframe. Most standard replacements are completed on the same day once parts are confirmed and access is arranged.

Leaking Taps

Leaking taps waste water continuously and can add noticeably to quarterly bills if left unaddressed. The fault usually traces to worn internal washers, damaged valve seats, or deteriorated O-rings inside the tap body. Fixed Today Plumbing repairs leaking taps by disassembling the unit, identifying the failed component, and replacing it with quality parts sized correctly for the tap type and brand.

Older-style spindle taps use rubber washers that compress over time and eventually fail, allowing water to drip even when fully closed. Modern mixer taps use ceramic disc cartridges that can crack or collect mineral deposits, causing leaks at the spout or base. We carry common replacement parts and can source specific cartridges for most major tap brands if the unit is still supported by the manufacturer.

The repair process involves isolating water to the affected tap, disassembling the internals, confirming what's worn or damaged, and fitting the replacement. Once reassembled, the tap is tested under full pressure to confirm the leak is resolved and operation is smooth without stiffness or unusual resistance. If the tap body itself is corroded or the valve seat is damaged beyond repair, we'll explain whether reconditioning is viable or if replacement is the more reliable long-term option.

In properties near the coast, salt air accelerates corrosion on external fixtures and any taps installed in outdoor kitchens or laundry areas. Regular maintenance, replacing washers before they fail completely, extends tap life and prevents the valve seat damage that occurs when metal-on-metal contact happens after the washer has worn through. If you've got a dripping tap that's getting worse, book a repair before it escalates to a valve seat issue that costs more to fix.

Roof & Gutter Repairs

Roof and gutter leaks occur when flashing deteriorates, gutters clog with debris and overflow, or roof penetrations (vents, skylights, or pipe collars) lose their seal. Fixed Today Plumbing identifies the water entry point, confirms what's failed, and repairs it using materials suited to the roof type and expected weather exposure in coastal environments where salt and wind accelerate wear.

What often happens is leaves and twigs accumulate in valley gutters or behind gutter guards, creating dams that force water under the roofline during heavy rain. Once water enters the roof cavity, it tracks along beams and surfaces until it finds a weak point, usually a ceiling penetration or light fitting, where it drips into the room below. The actual entry point can be metres away from where the leak appears inside, so tracing the source is the first step.

Repairs involve clearing blockages, resealing flashing, replacing corroded gutter sections, and confirming downpipes are free-flowing and properly connected to stormwater drains. If the roof itself has damaged tiles or sheeting, we'll explain what's needed and whether it falls within our scope or requires a roofing specialist. For gutters that routinely overflow despite being clear, we assess fall and capacity, undersized gutters or insufficient downpipes can't handle the volume during storm events, and may need upgrading to prevent repeat issues.

Regular maintenance prevents most gutter problems. An annual clean before the wet season removes debris and confirms the system is ready for heavy rain. If you've noticed water stains on ceilings, damp patches in the roof cavity, or overflow during storms, arrange an inspection, early detection prevents structural damage to ceiling plaster, timber framing, and insulation that occurs when leaks go unaddressed for extended periods.

Shower Repairs

Shower repairs address leaking taps, temperature control faults, low pressure, and water escaping the shower recess and damaging surrounding areas. Fixed Today Plumbing diagnoses the fault by testing the mixer, checking the diverter operation, inspecting seals and grout, and confirming whether the issue is internal (tap cartridge, valve fault) or external (inadequate waterproofing, damaged tile grout).

Temperature faults, where the shower runs too hot, too cold, or fluctuates unexpectedly, usually trace to a worn thermostatic cartridge inside the mixer body or incorrect pressure balance where hot and cold supplies aren't matched. We test both supplies under flow, check the mixer internals, and replace the faulty component. Once repaired, the shower is tested across the full temperature range to confirm stable, comfortable output without sudden changes.

Water leaking from the shower base into adjacent rooms typically indicates failed waterproofing membrane, cracked tile grout, or a compromised waste connection. These leaks cause structural damage over time as water saturates the substrate, weakening floor framing and creating conditions for mould growth. Assessment involves checking the waste trap for leaks, inspecting grout and sealant for gaps, and confirming the membrane integrity. Repairs range from resealing and regrouting (where the membrane is intact) to full shower base rebuilds (where the membrane has failed).

Low pressure from the shower head alone, while other fixtures have normal flow, usually indicates a blocked head or a flow restrictor that's collecting sediment. We remove the head, clean or replace it, and test pressure under typical use conditions. If low pressure affects the entire shower including the taps, it's often a partially closed isolation valve or a blockage in the supply line, which requires further investigation. If your shower isn't working reliably, a quick assessment confirms what's needed and whether it's a simple component replacement or a more involved repair requiring access behind tiles.

Burst & Leaking Pipes

A burst pipe is an emergency requiring immediate professional attention to stop water damage. The break typically occurs at joints, in corroded sections, or where pipes have been stressed by ground movement or freezing conditions. Fixed Today Plumbing responds 24/7 to isolate the leak, assess the damage, and repair or replace the affected section using methods appropriate to the pipe material and location.

If a pipe has burst and water is spraying inside the property, the immediate action is isolation, turn off the water at the main meter if the internal stop valve won't close the supply. If you can't locate the shutoff or it's seized, we can guide you by phone while the plumber is dispatched. Once isolated, the priority is containing water already inside, protecting belongings, and identifying the burst location so repair can proceed efficiently.

On arrival, we confirm where the pipe has failed, check surrounding sections for stress or corrosion that could cause additional failures, and explain the repair approach. For accessible breaks in copper or PVC, the damaged section is cut out and replaced with new pipe and fittings, then pressure-tested before restoring supply. For breaks in concealed locations, inside walls, under slabs, or beneath landscaping—we assess whether access is viable or if trenchless pipe relining offers a less disruptive solution.

Leaking pipes that aren't actively spraying but are dripping steadily still cause damage over time, saturating building materials, weakening structures, and creating conditions for mould. Common leak points include compression fittings that have loosened, soldered joints that have developed pinhole leaks due to corrosion, and plastic pipes that have cracked from UV exposure or impact. We use electronic ultrasonic leak detection to pinpoint hidden leaks without invasive investigation, confirm the exact location, then access and repair the fault. Following our standard process, the repair is tested and verified before the site is cleaned up and water supply is restored.

Toilet Repairs

Toilet repairs cover continuously running cisterns, weak or incomplete flushes, leaks at the base, and faults where the bowl won't refill or overflows. Fixed Today Plumbing diagnoses the issue by inspecting the cistern internals, testing the flush mechanism, and checking the pan seal and waste connection for leaks. Most faults are resolved with component replacement, flush valves, inlet valves, or cistern seals, completed on the same visit.

A toilet that keeps running after flushing typically has a worn flush valve seal that isn't closing completely, allowing water to trickle from the cistern into the bowl continuously. This wastes substantial water over time and creates a constant background noise. The repair involves replacing the flush valve assembly, adjusting the fill level, and testing operation to confirm the cistern fills correctly and stops cleanly when full.

Leaking from the base of the toilet indicates a failed pan seal where the toilet connects to the floor waste. This allows wastewater to seep out during flushing, creating hygiene issues and potentially damaging subfloor materials. Repair requires removing the toilet, replacing the seal, and resetting the pan with proper alignment and secure fixing. Once reinstalled, the toilet is tested under multiple flush cycles to confirm the seal is watertight.

Weak flushes or incomplete clearing often trace to partial blockages in the trap or insufficient water volume in the cistern. We check the trap for obstructions, confirm the cistern is filling to the correct level, and test the flush valve operation. If the flush is weak despite correct water level, the issue may be poorly designed flush geometry or a cracked internal siphon, in which case replacement of the suite may be more practical than ongoing repairs. If your toilet isn't working reliably, arrange a callout—most faults are straightforward component replacements completed within an hour once parts are confirmed.

Gas Fitting

Gas fitting in Wheeler Heights includes new gas appliance connections, gas leak detection and repair, pressure testing after alterations, and compliance certification for regulated work. Fixed Today Plumbing holds a current NSW gas fitting licence, and all gas work is completed to AS/NZS 5601.1 standards with mandatory pressure loss testing before any system is recommissioned.

A gas leak is identified by the distinctive "rotten egg" odour (added mercaptan), hissing sounds near appliances or pipework, or dead vegetation over underground gas lines. If you suspect a gas leak, the immediate action is turning off the gas at the meter if safe to access, ventilating the area, avoiding ignition sources (switches, flames, or sparks), and arranging professional assessment. We use combustible gas detectors and thermal imaging to locate leaks in concealed areas, confirm the source, then repair or replace the affected section.

Gas appliance installations, cooktops, ovens, instantaneous hot water units, or space heaters, require correct sizing of the gas supply line, secure connections using approved fittings, and commissioning tests to confirm safe ignition, stable flame, and correct appliance operation. After installation or repair, a pressure loss test is performed by isolating the section, pressurising it, and monitoring for pressure drop over a set period. No drop confirms the system is gas-tight. If pressure falls, the leak is located and rectified before retesting.

Compliance certificates are issued for gas work where required by regulations, documenting that the installation meets safety standards and has passed testing. These certificates are often needed for property sales, insurance claims, or council approvals. If you're connecting a new gas appliance, upgrading an existing system, or experiencing gas odour or appliance faults, arrange an assessment—gas work is not suitable for DIY attempts, and faulty gas systems create serious safety risks including fire, explosion, and carbon monoxide exposure.

Strata Plumbing

Strata plumbing covers maintenance and repairs in multi-unit residential buildings, coordinating access with strata managers and owners, and managing the boundary between lot owner responsibility and common property. Fixed Today Plumbing works with strata committees to handle emergency service calls, scheduled maintenance, and compliance requirements across apartment buildings and townhouse complexes in Wheeler Heights and the Northern Beaches area.

Common strata plumbing issues include leaks affecting multiple units, shared drainage blockages, hot water unit failures serving common areas, and fixture repairs in lot bathrooms where access requires coordination. We confirm responsibility boundaries before quoting, lot owners typically cover internal fixtures and pipes within their unit, while the strata plan covers shared infrastructure, risers, and external drainage. If there's uncertainty, we can review the strata plan and explain what falls under common property.

For emergency work, burst pipes in common areas, sewer backups, or leaks causing water damage across units, we respond immediately, isolate the fault, and notify affected owners and the strata manager. Documentation is provided for insurance claims and strata records, including photos of the fault, work completed, and testing results. Fixed-price quotes are provided before non-emergency work starts, and invoices are formatted for strata accounting systems.

Scheduled maintenance includes hot water system servicing, drainage camera inspections of shared lines, Tempering Valve testing, and Backflow Prevention Device certification. These services maintain compliance with NSW regulations and reduce the likelihood of expensive emergency failures. If you're managing a strata property and need a plumber who understands access coordination, documentation requirements, and responsibility boundaries, we're set up for that, our team handles strata work routinely and can work within booking windows and site protocols required for multi-unit properties.

Commercial Plumbing

Commercial plumbing in Wheeler Heights includes maintenance and repairs for retail premises, office buildings, hospitality venues, and light industrial sites across the Northern Beaches. Fixed Today Plumbing handles both reactive callouts and scheduled maintenance programs, minimising downtime and managing work to suit operational hours and site access requirements.

Commercial sites have different demands compared to residential properties, higher fixture usage, more frequent drainage issues, compliance obligations for food safety and accessibility, and business interruption costs if systems fail during trading hours. We schedule non-urgent work outside peak periods where possible, respond rapidly to urgent faults that affect operations, and document all work for compliance records and maintenance logs.

Typical commercial services include grease trap maintenance and compliance (required for food premises under Sydney Water trade waste approvals), Backflow Prevention Device testing and certification, high-capacity drainage clearing for commercial kitchens, and fixture repairs in bathrooms and staff areas. We can work within site induction requirements, follow WHS protocols, and coordinate with other trades where plumbing is part of a broader fit-out or refurbishment.

For larger projects, new fit-outs, tenancy works, or system upgrades, we provide detailed scope documentation, staged quotes for budget planning, and project timelines that align with lease commencement or reopening dates. All work is completed to AS/NZS 3500 plumbing standards and relevant codes, with compliance certificates issued where required. If your business needs a plumber who can manage commercial constraints, access windows for entry, documentation, and minimal disruption—we're equipped for it and handle commercial work across the Northern Beaches routinely.

Plumbing FAQ's in Wheeler Heights

Emergency plumbing situations create stress and uncertainty. These questions reflect what Wheeler Heights residents ask most often when facing urgent plumbing faults, booking routine work, or trying to understand what's involved before committing. If your question isn't answered below, call us, we're available 24/7 and can provide specific guidance for your situation.

How quickly can Fixed Today reach Wheeler Heights for an emergency?

Urgent jobs are prioritised and dispatched immediately from our nearest hub, typically the West Sydney location via the M2 and Warringah Road corridor. Arrival timing depends on current bookings, traffic conditions, and the distance from the allocated technician's last job, but most Wheeler Heights emergency callouts are reached within typical response windows for the Northern Beaches area. We provide an ETA once dispatch is confirmed.

What does "immediate dispatch" actually mean from experience?

Immediate dispatch means the job is sent to the nearest available NSW-licensed plumber as soon as you book, and urgent work is prioritised ahead of routine bookings. The technician is allocated based on your location, the fault type, and current workload. It doesn't guarantee a specific arrival time, but it does mean you're not added to a queue, the plumber heads to your property as the next job or as soon as the current urgent job is completed.

Do you charge a call-out fee for Wheeler Heights jobs?

Call-out fee status varies by job type and location. Some service areas have no call-out fee, while others include a standard attendance charge that's credited against the final job price if you proceed with the quoted work. Confirm the call-out fee status when you book so you know exactly what to expect before the plumber is dispatched.

How does fixed-price quoting work if you haven't seen the job?

The plumber assesses the fault onsite, confirms what's affected, checks existing pipework and access, then provides a fixed-price quote based on the confirmed scope. The quote includes labour, materials, and testing, and it's by the job, not by the hour. You decide whether to proceed once you've seen the price and understood what's included. If scope changes during the work, additional faults are found or access reveals complications, we explain the change and confirm the revised price before continuing.

What should I do immediately if a pipe bursts while I'm waiting for the plumber?

Turn off the water at the main meter if the internal stop valve won't close the supply. If you can't locate the shutoff or it's seized, call us and we can guide you by phone while the plumber is on the way. Move belongings away from the water, contain what you can with towels or buckets, and avoid using electrical outlets or switches in wet areas. The plumber will isolate the leak, assess the damage, and explain the repair options once onsite.

Are your plumbers actually licensed in NSW?

Yes. All attending technicians hold a current NSW plumbing licence. Our business licence number is 305428C, which covers plumbing, drainage, and gas fitting. You can verify our licence status through the NSW Fair Trading website if you want to confirm before booking.

What does your insurance actually cover if something goes wrong?

We carry Public Liability insurance, which provides protection if accidental property damage occurs during the work: for example, if a tool slips and damages a tile, or water escapes during a repair and affects adjacent areas. We also carry Workers Compensation insurance, which provides protection related to workplace injuries that occur on the job. The insurance doesn't cover pre-existing damage or faults unrelated to the work being performed.

How does your Lifetime Labour Warranty work in plain English?

The Lifetime Labour Warranty covers the quality of the workmanship itself, if a repair fails due to how we completed the work, we'll return and fix it without charging for labour. It doesn't cover wear and tear on new parts over time, damage from misuse, or faults caused by unrelated system issues. Manufacturer warranties apply separately to any hardware or appliances we install. If something fails and you're not sure whether it's covered, call us and we'll assess it honestly.

Can I get a quote over the phone without a site visit?

We can provide a rough indication of typical costs for common jobs, but accurate quoting requires on-site inspection to confirm the scope, access, existing conditions, and materials needed. Quoting over the phone risks under-scoping the job, which leads to surprises when the plumber arrives. The on-site inspection is the most reliable way to get a fixed price you can decide on with full clarity.

What's the difference between an emergency callout and same-day service?

Emergency callouts are for urgent faults that need immediate attention to prevent property damage or safety risks, burst pipes, gas leaks, sewer backups. These jobs are prioritised and dispatched first. Same-day service is for non-urgent work that still needs resolving quickly - leaking taps, blocked sinks, toilet faults. Same-day jobs are scheduled based on availability and proximity, but they're not prioritised ahead of emergencies.
