Sydney hot water install specialists

The team that has installed 1,500+ hot water systems across Sydney

We are not a generalist plumber who fits the occasional unit. Hot water is core to what we do, so the advice is impartial, the sizing is done from manufacturer tables, and the install is tidy, compliant and rebate-ready from day one.

Founded in 2010 by owner Steven Bahbah, our family-run team has planned and fitted new hot water systems across greater Sydney, from a first-time install in a Bondi renovation to a planned electric-to-heat-pump upgrade in Mosman. Every install is run by a fully ticketed plumber and gas fitter under NSW Licence 305428C, ends with a Certificate of Compliance, and shows the rebate value on day one, not as a promise to chase later.

Before vs After

What changes when a licensed installer plans your new system?

A new hot water system is a 10 to 15 year decision, and it is one of the easiest jobs to get wrong on price alone. Here is exactly what shifts when a licensed Sydney installer plans and fits it, instead of a handyman or a like-for-like guess.

Before

Cheapest quote or DIY guess

  • The visible symptom has no confirmed source
  • A repair is chosen before the cause is checked
  • Access or price changes are left unexplained
  • The same symptom returns without further testing
  • There is no clear handover record
Licensed Fixed Today plumber giving a thumbs up

After

Licensed Fixed Today install

  • The fault is checked with a suitable diagnostic method
  • The likely cause and repair options are explained
  • The scope and price are approved before paid work
  • The result is tested before handover
  • Relevant invoice, warranty and compliance records are supplied
What you’ll actually get

The exact thread you’ll see on install day

No marketing fluff. Every install customer gets a thread like this on the day; booked, installer assigned, ETA, vehicle ID, knock at the door. You always know what’s next.

  1. Booked

A real installer assigned, in writing.

Your 2-hour window, installer name, vehicle and exact system being fitted; confirmed by SMS within minutes. Not a queue, not a callback.

  2. Routed

Live ETA, refreshed as they drive.

Once your installer leaves the depot the ETA SMS auto-refreshes. No need to call and ask whether they’re still coming.

  3. Warned

    5-minute heads-up at the door.

We text when the installer is 5 minutes away, including vehicle and plate so you know who’s knocking before you open the door.

  4. Honoured

    Late-fee waiver, automatic.

Miss the window without warning and the call-out portion of your invoice is automatically waived. No claim form, no negotiation.

On-Time, Live

We turn up when we say we will; here is the proof

Every hot water install we attended today, with the booked window, the actual arrival time, and whether we hit it. We publish the misses too; and waive the call-out fee when we cause one.

The honest comparison

What other hot water installers won’t tell you.

Side-by-side with what most homeowners actually receive when they pay $1,200 to $8,000 for a new hot water system; no spin, no fine print. Just what we include as standard on a supply-and-install, and what tends to quietly get left off elsewhere.

How It Works

How a new hot water install works in Sydney

Same upfront supply-and-install pricing whether it is a straight swap, a first-time install in a renovation, or a strata upgrade. Here is exactly what to expect from the first call to the warranty card.

Step 01
Step 01

Tell us about your home and what you want

Household size, current fuel (gas, electric, LPG, solar), where the unit sits, and what matters most; lowest running cost, biggest rebate, or lowest upfront. We use this to shortlist the right system types before we visit.

Booking Recorded

Visit details confirmed

Contact method Confirmed
Address checked

Step 02
Step 02

Free on-site assessment and sizing

A licensed installer checks placement, gas and electrical, flue clearances and roof aspect, then sizes the system from manufacturer tables for your peak demand; so the unit is neither undersized nor wasteful.

Options As needed
Step 03
Step 03

Options and running costs, in writing

You get itemised supply-and-install pricing for each suitable system, projected annual running cost, warranty length, and any NSW ESS and federal STC rebate you qualify for, pre-calculated. You decide; no upsell, no pressure.

Scope and Price

Confirmed before repair

Repair scope Written
Fixed price Confirmed
Approval Required
Step 04
Step 04

Install, compliance and warranty paperwork

A typical storage install takes 2 to 3 hours; heat pump and solar can be a half-day. We remove and recycle the old unit, fit a compliant tempering valve, set the thermostat to 60°C, then email your compliance certificate and warranty card before we leave.

Sizing calculator

What size hot water system should you install?

Pick your household size; we’ll show the recommended capacity for every system type, based on Sydney averages and manufacturer sizing tables. Sizing a new system correctly is the single biggest factor in whether it runs out in winter.

How many people in the home?

Pick "6+" for large families.

Daily need ~200 L/day

Electric storage

250 to 315 L

Sized larger because off-peak elements heat overnight in one go.

Gas storage

135 to 170 L

Reheats much faster than electric, so smaller tanks cope easily.

Gas continuous

24 L/min

Rated by simultaneous outlets. Two showers + a tap usually wants 24 L/min.

Heat pump

250 to 280 L

Slower recovery than gas. Size up if you have back-to-back morning showers.

Solar (boosted)

300 to 340 L

Sized larger to carry through cloudy days without leaning on the booster.

Why licensing matters

Licensed plumber vs. unlicensed worker

Plumbing work in NSW must be carried out by a licensed plumber. It is not just a formality, licensing protects your home, your insurance, and your right to recourse if something goes wrong.

Licensed plumber

What you get

  • Work is insured and meets the National Plumbing Code
  • Compliance Certificate issued for every job
  • Home insurance and warranty stay valid
  • Statutory warranty backed by NSW Fair Trading
  • Clear path to dispute resolution if needed
Unlicensed worker

What you risk

  • Work may breach the NSW Plumbing and Drainage Act
  • No Compliance Certificate: issues at resale
  • Home insurance claims commonly denied
  • No statutory warranty on the work performed
  • Limited recourse: Fair Trading cannot assist
Our NSW Plumbing Licence 236784C Fixed Today Plumbing Pty Ltd

Most home insurance policies will not pay out for damage caused by unlicensed plumbing work. A burst hot water unit from a non-compliant install can void cover on the entire claim, often tens of thousands of dollars.

How to choose a new hot water system you won’t regret

A short editorial guide written by our senior hot water installers. No fluff, no brand bias; just the checks an experienced buyer makes before signing off on a new $4,000 system.

Homeowner checks

The six checks that matter most

  • Size before brand; always
  • Compare running cost, not just install price
  • Confirm the rebate is locked in, not hoped for
  • Demand a Certificate of Compliance, not a receipt
  • Check the tempering valve is in the quote
  • Insist on itemised, not lump-sum
  • Plan placement and controls to actually save money
Quote checklist

Walk-away signs on a new-install quote

  • No model number on the quoted unit
  • Rebate “applied later” with no figure on the quote
  • Sized the same as the old unit with no questions asked
  • No tempering valve line on the install
  • Compliance certificate as an optional extra
  • Running cost never mentioned, only install price
