The cost of replacing an electric hot water circuit breaker in Sydney depends on the fault, switchboard access, the compatible protective device and whether wiring or switchboard repairs are also required. A licensed electrician must test the circuit before providing a job-specific quote.
The final cost can be higher if:
- after-hours or urgent attendance is required
- the switchboard is difficult to access
- the existing device is obsolete or incompatible
- circuit identification or additional testing takes longer
- damaged wiring, heat-affected connections or another electrical fault is found

Can you reset the breaker yourself?
