Compare WELS ratings and flush volumes
A higher WELS star rating indicates greater water efficiency within the toilet category. For an accurate comparison, check:
- Litres per average flush: the best overall comparison figure.
- Full-flush volume: water used for a full flush.
- Half-flush volume: water used for a reduced flush.
Comparing only the half-flush volume can be misleading. Confirm the current registration and figures for the exact toilet suite in the official WELS product database.
Check suitability before buying
The toilet must fit the existing plumbing and clear waste reliably. Poor compatibility or flushing performance can lead to repeat flushing and negate expected water savings.
