## Summary

Pillar burst pipe emergency page for Sydney: urgent hero then segment and about lead into the ETA strip, then the booking wizard (get help now), offers, and the critical emergency steps block (shut off the main, kill power near electrics, drain the lowest tap, contain and photograph for insurance) followed by the live map. Before/after and two on-time guarantee designs build trust, then value props, how-it-works, warranty and the licensing comparison. Service grid, by-the-numbers, reviews and payment carry the proof, then the pipe-brands marquee, the homeowner handbook, live job ticker and FAQs. Every CTA points to #wizard, the emergency phone line, or contact-us; live map anchor is #live-burst-pipes-map. Lead capture closes.

## The crew Sydney calls when a pipe lets go at 2am

Sydney burst pipe specialists

Burst pipes do not wait for business hours, and neither do we. Our emergency vans run around the clock with leak-detection gear, pipe stock and press-fit tooling on board, so the plumber who answers your call can actually stop the water and repair the break on the same visit.

From a corroded galvanised main flooding a Marrickville hallway to a tree-root split under a Hornsby driveway, our licensed crew has traced, contained and repaired the lot. Every emergency is triaged in under a minute, every plumber on the truck is fully ticketed, and every repair ends with the photos, moisture readings and a written report your insurer will ask for; not a scribble on the back of an invoice.

## Pipe just burst? 4 steps before we arrive

Do this right now

These four moves limit the damage and keep everyone safe while your plumber is on the way. Work through them in order; then call us and we’ll dispatch the closest van and stay on the line if you need us to.

If water is dripping near power points, light fittings or the switchboard, do not touch anything electrical while standing in or near water. Switch the main off from a dry position only, or stay clear and call 000.

Send these steps to my phone

Send

1800 349 338

[Talk to an emergency plumber now](tel:1800-349-338)

### Turn the water off at the main meter

This is the single most important step. Find your water meter (usually near the front boundary or in a garden box) and turn the tap beside it fully clockwise until it stops. That isolates the whole property and stops water feeding the burst. If the leak is on a single fixture, the isolation valve under the sink or behind the toilet may be enough; but when in doubt, kill it at the meter.

[Can’t find the main? Call us and we’ll guide you](tel:1800-349-338)

### Switch off power if water is near electrics

Water and electricity are a lethal combination. If water is dripping through a ceiling, pooling near power points, or running toward the switchboard, turn the main switch off at the board; but only if you can reach it from a completely dry position. If you cannot get to it safely, stay clear, keep everyone away, and call an electrician or 000. Never stand in water to reach a switch.

[Water near power? Book an urgent visit](https://fixedtoday.com.au/contact-us)

### Open the lowest taps to drain the pipes

With the main off, open the cold taps at the lowest point of the house (an outdoor tap, laundry tub or ground-floor basin) and let the pipes drain down. This relieves the pressure still trapped in the lines, slows the leak to a trickle, and clears water out of the pipe near the break so it doesn’t keep feeding the flood while you wait.

[Still gushing after draining? Get priority dispatch](https://fixedtoday.com.au/contact-us)

### Contain the water and photograph everything

Lay down towels and buckets, move furniture, electronics and valuables clear, and lift rugs off wet carpet. Then photograph and video the burst, the water, and any damaged belongings before you clean up; your insurer will want evidence of the source and the damage. We’ll add our own moisture readings and a written report on site to support your claim.

## What changes when a licensed emergency plumber takes the job?

Before vs After

A burst pipe is one of the fastest ways to do tens of thousands of dollars in damage; and the wrong repair just moves the next failure a few metres down the line. Here is exactly what shifts when a licensed Sydney plumber handles it instead of a handyman or a quick DIY patch.

## What happens when you call us about a burst pipe in Sydney?

How It Works

Same upfront pricing whether it is a 2am mains burst, a slow leak you finally chased down, or a commercial flood shutting a business. Here is exactly what to expect from the first call to the compliance certificate.

Every burst pipe repair in Sydney is backed by our lifetime workmanship warranty; in writing, on your invoice, with the compliance certificate and insurance report to match.

Tell us what’s leaking and where

Gushing pipe, wet ceiling, spinning meter, damp wall. We use this to triage urgency and load the right detection gear and pipe stock; copper, PEX or poly; onto the truck before we leave.

Licensed plumber arrives and finds the break

A qualified plumber isolates the water, then locates the exact break using acoustic and thermal leak detection; no cutting open walls or digging up the yard to “have a look” first.

Fixed repair price, in writing

You get an itemised price to repair or replace the failed section, plus any pressure-related fix, before work starts. You approve it or walk away. No call-out fee, no pressure.

Repair, pressure test, then paperwork

Most bursts are repaired on the first visit. We replace the failed section to AS/NZS 3500, pressure test the line, and email your compliance certificate and insurance report before we leave.

Emergency call; we triage in 60 seconds

Mains burst, ceiling coming down, water near the switchboard. We know what is genuinely urgent and dispatch the closest plumber with detection gear and pipe on board straight away.

Make it safe while we’re en route

We talk you through shutting the main at the meter, isolating power safely if water is near electrics, draining the lowest tap, and protecting your belongings; so damage is contained before we arrive.

Stop the water, then repair on the spot

We isolate the burst, locate it precisely, and carry out a permanent repair the same visit wherever possible; press-fit copper, PEX and poly stock is on the truck for exactly this.

Water back on, documented for insurance

Line pressure tested and restored, mains pressure checked, and a full report with photos and moisture readings supplied; the evidence your insurer needs, handed to you on site.

Site review and access requirements

Strata, retail, hospitality, warehouse or office? We coordinate with building management, lift bookings and after-hours access so a burst does not shut you down for longer than it has to.

Compliance and SWMS

Plumbing licence, $10M public liability, SWMS and JSA documents prepared and supplied before we step on site; no chasing paperwork while water is still running.

Isolate, quote and repair

We isolate the affected zone to keep the rest of the building operating, locate the break, and quote the repair plus any pressure or backflow work before proceeding.

Restore, test and report

Line repaired to AS/NZS 3500, pressure tested, and a WHS sign-off plus a compliance certificate and incident report provided for your building and insurance records.

## Repaired properly, documented fully; both in writing

Our Guarantee

Every burst pipe repair is covered by our lifetime workmanship warranty and backed by the compliance certificate and insurance report you need to protect your home. No fine print, no exclusions buried in a PDF; the guarantee is explained in plain English on your invoice.

Lifetime Workmanship

Plus Full Compliance Cover

[Book with confidence](https://fixedtoday.com.au/contact-us)

### Lifetime Workmanship Warranty

If a repair we carried out fails at any point while you own the property, we come back and fix it at no charge. No time limit, no excess, no questions asked.

### Certificate of Compliance

Every notifiable repair includes a Certificate of Compliance lodged with the relevant authority. Required for insurance and resale. We email you a copy and keep one on file.

### Insurance-Ready Report

We supply dated photos, moisture readings and a written cause-and-repair report on site; the documentation your insurer asks for to approve a water-damage claim without a dispute.

### Cause Fixed, Not Just the Symptom

We pressure test the line and check your mains pressure. If high pressure or water hammer caused the burst, we quote the pressure-limiting valve to stop it happening again.

### Upfront Fixed Pricing

The price we quote for the repair is the price you pay. If a corroded fitting turns a 1-hour job into a 3-hour job, that is on us, not you.

### 24/7 Emergency Response

Real plumbers answering real calls day and night. Any after-hours surcharge is quoted upfront before we dispatch; never a surprise on the invoice.

## Licensed plumber vs. unlicensed worker

Why licensing matters

Plumbing work in NSW must be carried out by a licensed plumber. It is not just a formality, licensing protects your home, your insurance, and your right to recourse if something goes wrong.

Licensed plumber

Unlicensed worker

Most home insurance policies will not pay out for damage caused by unlicensed plumbing work. A burst hot water unit from a non-compliant install can void cover on the entire claim, often tens of thousands of dollars.

### Know where your main shut-off is before you need it

The number one cause of a big water-damage bill is not the burst itself; it is the minutes lost hunting for the shut-off while the house floods. Your main tap is usually at the water meter near the front boundary, or in a garden valve box. Find it now, make sure it turns freely, and show everyone in the house. In a two-storey home, know your floor isolation valves too.

On every job we show you exactly where your shut-offs are and make sure they still operate; a seized main valve is a repair we do on the spot.

### Old galvanised and copper are living on borrowed time

Homes plumbed before the 1980s often still run galvanised steel, which corrodes from the inside until the wall thins and splits; frequently with no warning. Copper can suffer pinhole corrosion and stress cracks at bends and fittings. If you have discoloured water, recurring leaks, or drops in flow, the pipe material itself is usually the story, not bad luck.

We assess pipe age and material on every call and tell you honestly whether a repair will hold or whether a staged re-pipe is the smarter spend.

### High water pressure quietly destroys pipes

Sydney mains pressure can exceed 800 kPa in places, well above the 500 kPa maximum most fixtures and pipes are rated for. Excess pressure and water hammer (that bang when a tap shuts) fatigue joints and fittings until one lets go. It is one of the most common and most preventable causes of a burst; and most homeowners have never had their pressure measured.

We test your mains pressure on any repair and fit a pressure-limiting valve if it is too high; the single best insurance against a repeat burst.

### A hidden leak shows up on the meter and the bill

Not every burst gushes; many weep behind walls or under slabs for weeks, rotting timber and feeding mould. Two quick tests: read your water meter, then don’t use any water for two hours and read it again; if it moved, you have a leak. And watch for an unexplained jump in your bill, warm spots on the floor, or a musty smell with no visible cause.

We locate hidden leaks with acoustic and thermal detection; pinpointing the break so we open one small area, not the whole wall.

### Document before you clean up

Insurers pay claims on evidence. Before you mop, move furniture or throw anything out, photograph and video the burst, the standing water, and every damaged item; from wide shots to close-ups. Keep the failed pipe section if a plumber removes it. “Sudden and accidental” bursts are usually covered, but gradual leaks and unmaintained pipes often are not; so the cause matters as much as the damage.

We supply dated photos, moisture readings and a written cause-and-repair report on site, formatted the way assessors expect to see it.

### Dry it out properly or mould will follow

Stopping the water is only half the job. Water wicks into plaster, skirting, subfloor and insulation and keeps them wet for days. Left alone, mould can start within 24 to 48 hours. Lift wet carpet, get air moving, and for anything beyond a small spill, get proper drying equipment in; patching a wet cavity just seals the moisture inside.

We map how far the water has travelled with a moisture meter and tell you exactly what needs drying, so nothing gets closed up wet.

Won’t give a licence number, even when asked

Wants to patch a corroded pipe with tape or epoxy

No pressure test offered after a repeat burst

Cuts open the wall to “find” a leak instead of detecting it

No photos or report for your insurance claim

Huge after-hours fee sprung on you after the work

Are you a licensed plumber, and what’s your licence number?

Any legitimate NSW plumber will give you a contractor licence number without hesitation, even at 2am. You can verify it free on the Service NSW site in under a minute. Repairing a pressurised water pipe is licensed work; a handyman doing it can void your insurance.

Will you find the exact leak, or cut open the wall to look?

A properly equipped emergency plumber uses acoustic and thermal leak detection to pinpoint a hidden break, so only a small area is opened. “We’ll cut in and have a look” means extra damage you then have to repair, and often a missed second leak.

Is this a permanent repair or a temporary patch?

Ask whether they’re replacing the failed section to AS/NZS 3500 or just clamping it to get through the night. A clamp is fine as a stopgap if parts aren’t available, but you want it in writing that a permanent repair is booked; a patch on corroded pipe will fail again.

Will you check my water pressure?

If your pressure is above about 500 kPa, it is likely part of why the pipe burst; and it will attack the next weak point too. A good plumber tests mains pressure on the repair and recommends a pressure-limiting valve if it is high. Skipping this is why some homes burst again within months.

Will I get a Certificate of Compliance and an insurance report?

Notifiable plumbing work requires a Certificate of Compliance. For a water-damage claim you also want dated photos, moisture readings and a written report on the cause and repair. A one-line invoice is not enough for most insurers to approve a claim cleanly.

What’s the total price, and are there after-hours fees?

Get the full price; call-out, detection, repair and any after-hours surcharge; in writing before work starts. With us the call-out to attend and quote is $0 and any after-hours surcharge is disclosed before we dispatch, so nothing lands as a surprise on the invoice.

## Burst pipe questions, answered straight

FAQs

Direct answers to the questions our emergency customers ask most. If yours is not here, call us; we’ll tell you straight, day or night.

### How do I stop a burst pipe right now?

Turn the water off at the main tap beside your meter (usually near the front boundary), turning it fully clockwise. If water is near power points or the switchboard, switch the mains power off from a dry position, or stay clear and call 000. Then open your lowest tap to drain the pipes and call us; we’ll dispatch the closest plumber and stay on the line if you need us to.

[Call the emergency line](tel:1800-349-338)

### How fast can you get to me?

Typical Sydney metro arrival on a priority burst pipe is 35 to 60 minutes, depending on where you are and dispatch volume at the time. We run emergency vans 24/7, so day, night, weekend or public holiday, a real plumber answers and the closest available van is sent. Use the live availability map above for an estimate for your suburb.

### What causes pipes to burst?

The big ones in Sydney are corrosion in ageing galvanised steel and copper pipes, high mains pressure and water hammer fatiguing joints, tree roots crushing or splitting underground pipes, ground movement, and physical damage from digging or renovations. Freezing is rare here but not impossible in the coldest suburbs. On site we identify which cause applies so we can stop it recurring, not just patch the hole.

### Can you find a leak I can’t see?

Yes. Wet walls, a spinning water meter, warm spots on the floor or a jump in your bill often mean a hidden or underground leak. We use acoustic and thermal leak detection to pinpoint the exact spot, so we open one small area rather than cutting open the whole wall or digging up the yard to search.

### Will my insurance cover the damage?

Most home policies cover “sudden and accidental” water damage from a burst pipe, but not gradual leaks or damage from unmaintained pipework; so the cause matters. Claims are approved on evidence, which is why we supply dated photos, moisture readings and a written cause-and-repair report on site. Using a licensed plumber is also usually a condition of cover.

### Should I repair the pipe or replace it?

A single clean break on otherwise sound pipe is a straightforward repair. But if the pipe is old galvanised or copper that’s corroding, a patch just moves the next failure a metre down the line. When we see repeat bursts or thin, rusted pipe, we’ll honestly quote a staged re-pipe; and tell you when a repair is genuinely all you need.

### Why does high water pressure matter?

Sydney mains pressure can exceed 800 kPa in places, above the 500 kPa most pipes and fixtures are rated for. That excess pressure and the water hammer it causes fatigue joints until one bursts; and it will attack the next weak point too. We test your pressure on the repair and can fit a pressure-limiting valve, which is the single best protection against a repeat burst.

### Do you charge a call-out or after-hours fee?

There’s no fee to come out and give you a fixed quote; the call-out to attend and assess is $0. After-hours and public-holiday emergencies may carry a surcharge depending on the time and travel, and if so, the exact figure is told to you before we dispatch a plumber. Never a surprise on the invoice.

### Do you handle commercial and strata bursts?

Yes. We attend bursts in offices, retail, warehouses, hospitality and strata buildings, and can isolate the affected zone to keep the rest of the building operating. We coordinate with building management and after-hours access, and supply SWMS, licence, insurance and a compliance certificate plus incident report for your records.
